Protecting your gifts

Beginning today, RCMP Citizen Patrol and Auxiliary Constable Volunteers will be patrolling parking lots around various shopping centres in the area.

The initiative - which has been in operation for over a decade - is aimed at preventing car theft during the holiday season.

RCMP recommend you:

Park in well-lit areas and avoid shopping alone where possible.

Lock your vehicle at all times and don’t leave packages or other valuables in public view.

Don’t buy more than you can comfortably carry and have your keys in hand when approaching your vehicle.

Stay alert to your surroundings and report suspicious activity to the police.
