Highway 1 reopened

Highway 1 from Revelstoke to Golden (147.8 km) has been reopened in both directions as of 7:12 p.m. Sunday. The road was closed after two semi trucks collided Sunday afternoon, near Albert Canyon.

The head on collision was between a Bison Transport truck and a yellow tractor-trailer. The cab of the Bison Transport was completely destroyed.

We do not know the condition of the drivers or if they had any passengers.

Sunny Rupi sent us the images. He says the road conditions were very bad at the time of the accident.  

DriveBC reports there is currently compact snow on Hwy 1 with slushy sections. The expected forecast for Golden for Sunday night is periods of light snow amounting to 2 cm, with a low of minus four.
