Campfire Banana Boats
A banana boat is a fun, quick, and easy dessert to make over the campfire.
It can also be a healthier alternative to other campfire desserts.
There are many flavour combinations to explore including:
Classic s’mores: banana, milk chocolate, mini marshmallows, crumbled graham crackers
Strawberry hazelnut: banana, strawberries, Nutella, chopped hazelnuts
Peanut butter and chocolate: banana, peanut butter, chocolate chips
Pecan praline: banana, pralines, dark chocolate
Here’s everything you’ll need to make the perfect banana boat.
Ingredients:
Bananas
Your choice of toppings (listed above)
What You’ll Need:
A knife
Aluminum foil
Spoon
Optional: grill grate
Recipe:
Split a banana in half. Take a banana with its peel still on and cut it down the middle, horizontally. Not all the way through, but until the tip of your knife just grazes the peel on the other side.
Pull the peel and banana slightly apart.
Stuff your banana with the toppings of your choice.
Cook your banana by wrapping it in tin foil and placing it over the fire. You can toast your banana on top of a grill grate or by cooking it in the embers. Always keep the topping side up.
Warm your banana for approximately 5-7 minutes until the toppings are melted. The banana should feel softened or slightly squishy.
Remove your banana from the fire, and unwrap it from the foil. Use a spoon to scoop out your dessert, avoiding eating any of the peel. Enjoy!
